Hopkinton Firefighters Honored by Gov. Maura Healey at Massachusetts Firefighter of the Year Awards

Interim Chief Gary Daugherty and the Hopkinton Fire Department are proud to share that six Hopkinton Firefighters were honored by Gov. Maura Healey, State Fire Marshal Jon Davine and others Tuesday at the 34th Annual Massachusetts Firefighter of the Year Awards.

Daugherty, Lt. John Sheridan, Firefighter Jim Gosselin, Firefighter Maxwell Hoadley, Firefighter Douglas R. Lewis III and Firefighter Jarrod Taranto were presented with the Governer's Citation for Meritorious Conduct Tuesday at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.

Hopkinton Fire Department Offers Safety Tips for Cooking This Holiday Season

Interim Chief Gary Daugherty and the Hopkinton Fire Department wish to share safety tips with community members as they plan to cook, bake and enjoy holiday meals over the coming days and weeks.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Thanksgiving, Christmas and Christmas Eve are peak days for home cooking fires. During 2017–2021, unattended cooking was the leading factor contributing to cooking fires and casualties.

Treasurer Goldberg’s Office of Economic Empowerment (OEE) Funds Lynn Organizations to Increase Enrollment in the BabySteps Savings Plan

State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg announced the recipients of its Lynn BabySteps Savings Plan Grants. This initiative funds Lynn organizations in the development and execution of outreach strategies, in order to increase enrollment in the BabySteps Savings Plan. BabySteps provides a free $50 deposit when a MEFA U.Fund 529 account is opened within one year of a Massachusetts child’s birth or adoption.

The Hopkinton Public Building Committee in correlation with Abacus Architects & Planners recently hosted a public forum to seek ideas for the community regarding down revitalization in Hopkinton.

Some of the ideas brought to the table included possible uses for Hopkinton Town Hall, Center School, Elmwood School and Fruit Street.

Winter Parking Ban & Pushing Snow Into the Street or Sidewalk By-Laws

The DPW wishes to remind all Hopkinton residents of By-Laws pertaining to the parking of motor vehicles during the winter months.

Traffic Rules and Orders, Town of Hopkinton, Article lV, Section 8 “It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle, other than for an emergency, to park said vehicle on any street between the hours of 1:00am to 6:00am from November 15 through April 1.
