Senate Passes Bill to Allow Non-Binary Gender Option on State Licenses

BOSTON—Today, the Massachusetts Senate passed Senate Bill 2562, An Act relative to gender identity on Massachusetts identification, which would establish a non-binary gender identity option for Massachusetts licenses. The bill was inspired by a letter from Ella, one of Senator Spilka’s constituents.

“I believe that this bill marks a step in the right direction for transgender, gender non-conforming, and cisgender citizens of the Commonwealth alike,” said Ella. “Whether it be an identity reason, a privacy reason, or otherwise, the symbol of ‘X’ allows individual freedom.”

HPLF Delivers $443,956.00 to Town at Selectmen’s Meeting

At the June 19, 2018 Board of Selectmen meeting, Hopkinton Public Library Foundation, Inc. (HPLF) delivered the first installment of its $1 million contribution from its fundraising campaign. HPLF Board members Laura Barry and Scott Richardson delivered a check payable to the Town of Hopkinton in the amount of $443,956.00. This amount represents the Town’s FY2019 debt service for the Library building project.

The Planning Board currently has one vacancy and the Town is seeking candidates for the position. The term of office will expire at the May, 2019 election. The Planning Board is an elected board, whose members serve five year terms. The establishment of municipal Planning Boards is authorized by Mass. General Law, Chapter 41, Section 81A. Among its many diverse roles, the Board is charged with the following duties, which are contained in the General Laws and the Hopkinton Zoning and General Bylaws:

The Center School Re-use Advisory Committee hosted their 1st public forum on Wednesday (6/13) at the HCAM studios. During the forum, potential uses for the Center School building were discussed.

The Center School Re-use Advisory team includes: Claire Wright, Frank D'Urso, Michael Auen, John Pavlov, Rob Dobinski, Amy Ritterbusch, Jennifer Devlin, Darlene Hayes, Laura Barry, Ken Weismantel (Vice-Chair) and RIchard Flannery (Chair).
