The Board of Selectmen reviewed Fire Chief Stephen Slaman. Slaman has served as active Fire Chief since Chief Ken Clark retired at the end of 2015.
Board of Selectmen name Stephen Slaman as Permanent Fire Chief
Tonight the Board of Selectmen reviewed Fire Chief Stephen Slaman and decided to officially appoint Slaman as permanent Fire Chief. After narrowing down the list of candidates to replace Chief Ken Clark who retired at the end of 2015 to 2 candidates, Selectmen were faced with a dilemma when one of the candidates, current Framingham Chief, Gary Daugherty dropped his candidacy for the position.
Board of Selectmen Set to Review Fire Chief Slaman
At next Tuesdays (April 5th) Board of Selectmen meeting, the board is scheduled to review the performance of the current Hopkinton Fire Chief, Stephen Slaman. Slaman took over as Fire Chief January 1st after Ken Clark retired with 44 years of service to the Hopkinton Fire Department. The board agreed in January to a March 31st deadline to decide if another search process should take place for the position.

After 11 years of service, Library Director Rownak Hussain announced she will be retiring to spend more time with her family. Recently, co-workers and friends hosted a retirement celebration for Rownak at the Senior Center.
Hopkinton Water & Sewer: Backflow Testing to be Completed
The Hopkinton Water & Sewer Division must comply with the State's Cross Connection Control program. The purpose of this program is to ensure the health and safety of the public drinking water supply for all water users. An essential part of this program is the testing of all Double Check Valve Assembly and Reduced Pressure Zone backflow prevention devices.
Hopkinton Democratic Caucus Results
The Hopkinton Democratic Caucus (HDC) held their local caucus at town hall on March 24th.
The HDC elected to support the following slate on the town's local ballot on May 16th.

Elaine Lazarus Promoted, Jennifer Burke to Planning Board
Elaine Lazarus has been promoted to the Director of Land Use and Town Operations Position. Elaine has worked for Hopkinton since 1992 and has been Director of Land Use Planing and Permitting for the past 6 years. Elaine will continue land use duties as well as provide additional duties such as board support, animal control and grant writing.
Jennifer Burke will provide staff support to the Planning Board. Burke started working for Hopkinton 9 months ago and previously served as Planning Director for the Town of Hudson for 11 years.

Video: Hopkinton Police Welcome Two New Officers
At the March 8th Board of Selectmen Meeting, Hopkinton Police welcomed two new officers to the department. Brian Sanchioni, a 2011 graduate of Milford High School and 2015 graduate of Worcester State University.
