Hopkinton Continues Search for New Fire Chief

The Hopkinton Fire Department Chief Search Committee announced that it received eighteen applications for the Chief's position, nine of which were from out of state. "After a thorough review of each application, we have extended invitations for first round interviews to seven candidates," said Bob Levenson, Chair of the committee.

"We are very pleased with the quality of the candidates," said Chris LeClaire, the Newburyport, MA Fire Chief and a member of the committee.

Zoning Board of Appeals Denies Anti-CVS Group

After two days of public hearings, this Wednesday 10/14 and last Wednesday 10/7, the Zoning Board of Appeals have denied the appeal against CVS Pharmacy. A group of Hopkinton residents filed an appeal to prevent CVS from being built at the location of the former Colella's building arguing that CVS is a "healthcare facility" and not retail, therefore it should be barred from the former Colella's because of a town bylaw preventing health services facilities from being built at that location.

Hopkinton Awarded $14M Grant for New Center Elementary School

In Boston on Wednesday, September 30, the MSBA Board of Directors voted unanimously to authorize the executive director to enter into a Project Scope and Budget Agreement with Hopkinton, finalizing and making official the numbers that we've been expecting. ESBC Clerk Rob Nickerson has reached out to local press with supplemental information, upcoming ESBC events, and the attached photo. Thanks everyone for staying strong and together to get us this far, a true team effort!

Selectmen Approve Two New Town Committees

The Town of Hopkinton is encouraging all residents who are interested in participating in the planning efforts for the recently acquired town-owned parcels to submit their applications now.

At the 2015 Annual Town Meeting, the town strategically purchased three new parcels of land: the Pratt Farm Estate and two parcels on Hayden Rowe, commonly known at the Irvine parcel and the Todaro parcel; the former primarily being used for a proposed new Center School.

Presentation by the Elementary School Building Committee

The October meeting of the Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee will be at 7pm on Thursday 10/8 in the Town Hall Basement.

Following that meeting, at 7:30 the ESBC will make a presentation on the proposal for the Special Town Meeting on our new elementary school.

All are welcome to both parts of the meeting. The ESBC presentation is for voter information. It is not being presented a partisan event. Again, any and all are welcome.

With a warrant article for Special Town Meeting on the calendar for October 26, Hopkinton’s Elementary School Building Committee has created multiple venues to raise awareness of the school building project, and encourage the community to participate in the vote.

“Our goal is to pass this with overwhelming endorsement from a broad crosssection of the community," said ESBC Chairman Joe Markey. "We believe we have crafted a solution that the community will recognize and can embrace."
