Candidate Statement: Darlene Hayes for Hopkinton Housing Authority

I decided to run for a seat on the Hopkinton Housing Authority Board and hope you will consider voting for me. I have been a resident of Hopkinton since 1995 who has previously served on the Friends of the Seniors for several years and as a Library Trustee.

In 2013 & 2014, I became more associated with the needs for greater community support at the Housing Authority when my son did his Eagle Scout project there. Since then, I have gotten to know several of the residents and realized this community needs greater advocacy for services.

My name is Lya Batlle-Rafferty and I am running for School Committee.

In our current climate of growth in the school system, budget expansion, and enrollment projection challenges, I believe that the ideal candidate is one who has prior experience with school boards as well as data analysis and financial management.

Candidate Statement: Jane Moran for Planning Board

My name is Jane Moran and I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Hopkinton Planning Board as an (U) unenrolled candidate.

I moved to Hopkinton in the 1970’s when the population was around 8,000 citizens and it wasn’t long before I was volunteering in leadership roles in my children’s activities: (H)PTA, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Boy Scouts to name a few. It was easy to realize even then that Hopkinton was and continues to be a high-quality community because of the outstanding quality of its volunteers. Now we are close to 18,000 residents and still growing.

To the Editor,

I am wholeheartedly endorsing Joe Markey for one of the three open School Committee positions in the upcoming Hopkinton town election.

I feel confident to speak of the high regard in which Joe is held in town, having been a friend of Joe’s and the Markey family for over 10 years.

In 2017, I was a new voter to the town of Hopkinton and was looking for information to learn about town issues and elections. That is when I came across Amy's contribution to ehop.org and eventually got to know her personally in 2018 when I decided to volunteer for the organization. Her thorough and in-depth knowledge as well as breadth of information has been of tremendous help to so many new and old-timers in Hopkinton. I have worked with Amy closely since 2018 while volunteering for eHop and also as a fellow Board member of eHop.
