Hopkinton Public Schools: Special Education Child Find Notice

Under federal and state special education regulations, Hopkinton Public Schools has a duty to locate, identify, refer, evaluate and, if eligible, provide a free, appropriate public education to students with disabilities who reside in the town of Hopkinton. For parents or guardians of children ages 3-21 years of age who have a disability or developmental delay, and who would like more information, please contact Marijane Hackett, Director of Student Services and Child Find Coordinator, at 508.497.9850.

Hopkinton Announces Successful Start to 1:1 Laptop Program

On Wednesday, September 5, Hopkinton High School welcomed a new freshman class to the school, as students arrived toting laptop computers in their backpacks. After months of planning and preparation, the school year began with the roll‐out of a new 1:1 laptop program. Most students at Hopkinton High School are leasing brand new Macbook Air computers operating on the newest Apple operating system called Mountain Lion.

Interim Superintendent to Assume Role on August 1, 2012

The Hopkinton School Committee is pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement with Dr. Steven Hiersche to serve as the Interim Superintendent of Schools for the 2012-2013 school year. School Committee Chair, Nancy Alvarez Burdick, reported that "The Committee is looking forward to having Dr. Hiersche join the leadership team. Having a veteran Superintendent with both mentoring and management experience will positively affect this year's priority mandates and initiatives, which will improve learning for all students in Hopkinton."

Host Family Needed for Student from China

Although we have had a strong response for host families for next year's semester, we still have one more student to place. He is a senior from China who enjoys basketball and looks forward to living with a Hopkinton family so he can learn more about American culture. Our current host families have found their lives are being enriched in enormous and sometimes surprising ways.
