Four Phase Approach to Reopening Massachusetts - NEW UPDATE
On Monday, May 11, the Baker-Polito Administration announced a four-phase approach to
reopening the Massachusetts economy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and published
Mandatory Workplace Safety Standards that will apply across all sectors and industries once
reopening begins. The goal of the phased reopening, based on public health guidance, is to
methodically allow certain businesses, services, and activities to resume, while protecting public
health and limiting a resurgence of new COVID-19 cases. Businesses and activities that
provided “COVID-19 Essential Services,” per Governor Baker’s March 23rd order, will continue
to operate. Certain businesses and activities with a lower risk of COVID-19 transmission will
open in earlier phases. Decisions and timing will be influenced by public health metrics for when
the first phase of reopening begins, as well as when it is safe to move into concurrent phases.

The Reopening Advisory Board is scheduled to provide its full report to Governor Baker on
Monday, May 18th.
Principal Planner Virtual Office Hours Tue 5/12 4pm - NEW UPDATE
Hopkinton continues to explore options for ways to best serve our residents during this unique
time. The Hopkinton Principal Planner will be open for a virtual “office hours” drop-in on
Tuesday 5/12/2020 from 4pm - 6pm. Click here for more information.
Hopkinton Public Library 3D Printer - NEW UPDATE
The library is pleased to announce the acquisition of a new 3D printer, generously funded by the
Hopkinton Public Library Foundation. The printer will ultimately be incorporated into the library's
programs and services, but for the time being it is being used to manufacture PPE to be
donated to first responders. As of May 8, our volunteer has made 25 face shields with the 3D
printer.
Remote Order Fulfillment:
Non-essential business may bring in a small number of employees in order to remotely fulfill
online or phone orders. However, there are many guidelines that must be followed. Read more

Cleaning Services:
Although cleaning companies are permitted to service essential commercial businesses and
businesses that are about to open, the Attorney General’s Office has stated that cleaning
companies and maid services are not permitted to clean residential homes at this time. The
Hopkinton Health Department appreciates the cooperation of all parties in this matter.
