In October 2016, a sub-committee was formed to come up with a plan to renovate the fields at Hopkinton High School. Design work on the project began in April 2017. On Wednesday (10/18) the Athletic Fields sub-committee hosted a public forum to share their 2 phase plan for the Hopkinton High School Athletic Fields. The probable start date for construction is June 2018, the estimated cost is 3.8 million dollars. Gale Associates is the engineering firm that will be handling the project.

Phase 1 of the plan features installation of synthetic turf on Fields 4 & 5. The plan would allow nearly all fall and spring outdoor sports to be played on the two fields. The plan features a baseball field on one side, softball on the other with a gridiron in the middle that has the capabilities to host soccer, lacrosse, football and field hockey.

Phase 2 of the plan features the installation of synthetic turf on Field 3, track resurfacing and expansion. The public forum went into many details of the proposed plan including the turf system options, turf fibers and the various types of in-fills that can be used. HHS Athletic Director, Dee King emphasized that the safest turf regarding concussions is a top consideration. Be on the lookout for more public forum sessions. The plan will also require approval at town meeting and town election.
