Video: Hopkinton Hillers Girls Basketball Highlights 3-15-2018

-On Saturday March 10th it was the Division 2 central sectional finals, the Hopkinton Girls met up with the Medway Mustangs at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In the 1st quarter, Medway outscored Hopkinton 14-10. Olivia Gladu knocked down a 3 right at the end of the 1st quarter to give
the Hillers some momentum. The 2nd quarter was a defensive battle Hopkinton outscored Medway 9-5 and it was 19-19 heading into halftime.

The Medway offense came alive in the 3rd quarter. Riley Childs and Sam Murray knocked down 3 2 point field goals each to help Medway outscore Hopkinton 16-9. Medway led 35-28 heading into the 4th. The Hillers defense shut down Medway in the 4th and Regan Keavany was red hot knocking down 9 points in the quarter. The Hillers would outscore Medway 18-4 in the quarter and walk away with the 46-39 victory and punch a ticket to the state semi finals. Regan Keavany scored a team leading 15 points while Ivy Gogolin pitched in with 12. Marissa Prall and Calli Korbey each added 7.

-On Wednesday march 14th at Worcester State University. Central Sectional Champion Hopkinton met up with with West sectional champion, Northampton. the 1st quartr was back and forth. Regan Keavany knocked down a pair of 3's in the opening quarter to help Hopkinton to a 9-8 lead heading into the 2nd. The 2nd quarter was more solid defense by both teams, Keavany came up big once again for the Hillers, knocking down 6 of Hopkinton's 8 points in the quarter. The Hillers outscored Northampton 8-6 in the quarter and led 17-14 at the halftime break.

The Hillers had some good contributions from Ivy Gogolin and Marissa Prall in the 3rd. Regan Keavany also added another 4 points to help the
Hillers outscore Northampton 14-8 and lead 31-22 heading to the 4th. In the final 8 minutes, northampton got into some foul trouble and the Hillers took advantage knocking down 11 free throws. Northampton outscored Hopkinton 18-17 in the final frame but it would not be enough as the Hillers grabbed the 48-40 win and advance to the State Finals. Regan Keavany came up huge once again in this once, she totaled 24 points. Ivy Gogolin contributed 14 points of her own. The Hillers will battle South Champion, Foxboro in the state finals Saturday March 17 11am at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield.
