New Posted Drop Off and Pick Up Lane at the Middle School

Dear Parents:

Each student will receive a printed schedule tomorrow, the first day of school. With the exception of music and physical education classes, all related arts courses are offered on a trimester basis. Subsequently, students will be issued a new schedule each trimester. The schedule that students receive on the first day of school is for Trimester I.

Rep. Dykema to Hold Local Office Hours

Continuing a tradition that began when she was first elected, Representative Dykema will holding her quarterly office hours in each of the four towns of the 8th Middlesex District next month.

“Being accessible to constituents was a pledge I made when I was first elected,” said Dykema. “I’ve learned so much from all those who have come to meet with me and I appreciate hearing their thoughts and ideas.”

Residents are encouraged to stop in to the office hours to share concerns, questions and opinions on state issues or simply to chat over a cup of coffee.

Hopkinton Area Land Trust 3rd Annual Members Meeting September 29

The Hopkinton Area Land Trust has set September 29, 2013 as the date
for its 3rd Annual Membership Meeting. The meeting will take place in the Hopkinton
Fire Station Training Room (Second Floor) at 2PM to 4PM. The agenda for the
meeting will be a welcome by its President, Dave Goldman; a presentation and review of
the events of the past year, followed by the election of three Directors to the Board of
Directors. The Trusts members are invited to attend, along with the public who would
like to learn more about the Trust.

MWACC Hires Green International Inc. for Casino Traffic Review

The MetroWest Anti-Casino Coalition (MWAAC) voted unanimously on August 29 to retain Green International Affiliates, Inc. (Green) to provide traffic impact peer review services for the proposed Foxwoods MA casino development in Milford, MA.

“It is important for the residents of Milford to hear from consultants not paid for by the developer. This study will clarify and confirm the Casino project’s traffic impact and data for the residents’ consideration,” said MWACC Chairman Brian Herr.

St. Paul’s “Welcome Back Sunday” September 8

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will be hosting its annual “Welcome Back Sunday” on September 8. Current and potential church members are invited to join in this homecoming celebration, which will include Sunday School registration at 10:15 a.m., a Holy Eucharistic service at 10:30 a.m., and a pot-luck lunch after the service. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is located at 61 Wood Street/Rte. 135, Hopkinton.

A Welcome Letter from Center School Principal

Dear Center Families,

We are ready for a wonderful start to the school year and hope that you are too. Our summer has been busy with preparations for the upcoming year, both inside and outside of the building.

In addition to summer cleaning, we have a number of updates at Center. I’m happy to announce that my office is located in what was previously the conference room off of the main corridor. Janeen Sheelen continues her role as assistant to the principal and is now located in the main office. The conference room is located in Mrs. Sheelen’s previous office space.

2014 Boston Marathon Registration to Begin on September 9 - Field Size Set at 36,000 Official Entrants for 2014 Race

Registration for the 2014 Boston Marathon will open on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The B.A.A. will use the same process to register qualified runners as it used in the 2012 and 2013 Marathons, allowing the fastest qualifiers to register first.

Registration will be held entirely online at www.baa.org. The qualification window for the 2014 Boston Marathon began last year on September 22, 2012.

Golden Pond Launches New Website

Assisted Living at Golden Pond, an independent lifestyle and assisted living community, today announced the launch of its redesigned website, which supports navigation through smartphone and tablet devices, as well as provides enhanced resources to caregivers, seniors and professionals.

The new website comes online in advance of the grand opening of Golden Pond’s expanded facility, scheduled for October, which will offer additional apartments and new services for residents. Golden Pond is located at 50 West Main Street in Hopkinton.

David P. Laquidara, 67

David P. Laquidara, 67, of Woodville, Massachusetts passed away on August 27, 2013 at his home. He was a resident of Milford for many years prior to moving to Woodville. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late John “Trippi” and Eleanor.

He is survived by brothers, Charles of Wailea, Hawaii, Pat of Milford and Bill and sister-in-law Roberta of Millville. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
