Candidate Statement: Holly Morand for School Committee

By contributor,

My name is Holly Morand, and I am asking for your vote this May to join the School Committee. I have been a resident of Hopkinton for almost 20 years, and I care deeply about this community. I have two children in the Hopkinton Public Schools; my daughter is in first grade, and my son is in third. My son had a profound speech delay and could not talk (even with private speech therapy!) until he worked with Hopkinton’s outstanding special education staff, and now he talks pretty much constantly.

Candidate Statement: Jared Pray for School Committee

By contributor,

My name is Jared Pray and I am running for the 1-year seat on the School Committee. I have lived in Hopkinton for 17 years with my wife, Jessica and three children (a 1st grader, a 4th grader, and a future member of the class of 2038). I have a vested interest in maintaining our excellent school system, but also ensuring that we actively work to improve, rather than merely maintaining the status quo.

Candidate Statement: John Cardillo for Town Constable

By contributor,

My name is John Cardillo and I'm running for Town Constable. I have lived in Hopkinton for the past 25 years and have been involved in many activities in town. I have coached softball for my daughter Kimberly and was assistant Little League baseball coach for my son Jason (Jason went on to play baseball for Hopkinton High School). I was also on the Little League Board as equipment manager. I was involved with the Hopkinton High School (HHS) cheerleading (of which Kimberly was a part) as their unofficial photographer and part time fundraiser.

Candidate Statement: Nancy Richards-Cavanaugh for School Committee

By contributor,

I am seeking re-election to the School Committee 3 year seat this May to continue to work on behalf of Hopkinton students, families and staff, while still meeting the fiduciary responsibility we hold to the town. Emerging from the pandemic and in the midst of a youth mental health crisis, our students are facing greater social and emotional needs and learning gaps than we have seen in the past.

Candidate Statement: Beth Malloy for Constable

By contributor,

My name is Beth Malloy and I am running for the position of Constable in Hopkinton. I grew up in Cambridge and Arlington and attended Mass. College of Liberal Arts. My husband Mike and I have lived in town for over 27 years. Our children attended Hopkinton Schools. We’ve both been lucky to work here in town. I’ve been working for the Michael Lisnow Respite Center for 11 years, at one of their group homes in town. I also worked as a substitute teacher here for 9 years. Working primarily with our intensive special needs students.

Editorial: Hopkinton for a Safe Upper Charles Trail starts petition

By contributor,

The Hopkinton Upper Charles Trail Committee (UCTC) is trying to push forward to a town vote an unsafe trail route that includes going behind one of our elementary schools and along a very busy Hayden Rowe Street. Their proposal requires crossing Hayden Rowe Street 3 times in a 1-mile stretch, crossing 15 driveways including a microbrewery and a Florist’s parking lot. The UCTC route doesn’t meet our residents’ safety and usability standards and doesn’t consider all the risk to autos, homeowners, businesses, and trail-users.
