Hopkinton Hillers Baseball defeats Norwood in battle of 10 and 3 teams

Hopkinton and Norwood went into Wednesday Nights game with both records at 10 wins and 3 losses on the season. The Hillers came out with a 10 to 1 win and improved to 11 and 3 while Norwood fell to 10 and 4. Dylan Locke broke the game open with an inside the park Grand Slam!

The Hillers struck 1st in the bottom of the 3rd, Connor Kelly hit a RBI single to drive in Ronnie Shamus. Hillers led 1-0 heading into the bottom of the 4th.

In the bottom of the 4th, Norwood pitcher, Jack Cropper walked Scott Pagliuca, Michael Burney and hit John Wauters to load the bases with 2 outs. Dylan Locke then came to the plate and crushed a ball to the fenceless field in Left-Center that took approximately a Marathon to chase down for the Norwood outfield. Locke unloaded the bases and came home himself for an in-the-park Grand Slam to make it a 5-0 game.

Norwood struck for a run in the Top 0f the 6th, Jason Denehy drove in James Whelan with an RBI hit to make it a 5 to 1 game. Norwood did not score another run after that, despite a couple baserunners reaching.

The Hillers rallied in the bottom of the 6th against relief pitchers, James Whelan and Sean Dittmeier. Connor Kelly, Cam Jerrett and Cam Mulvaney all drove in runs while Nick Paharik drove in a pair.

Hillers Starting Pitcher, Josh Fischer threw 6 solid innings giving up 4 hits, 1 run and Striking out 10 hitters while Andrew Gaughan struck out the side to close it out in the top of the 7th.

The Hillers improve to 11 and 3 with the 10 to 1 victory while Norwood falls to 10 and 4. Hopkinton next hosts Holliston at 3:45pm, Thursday (6/10) while Norwood hosts Medfield at 7pm.
