ESL's Script to Screen Camp

By Stephanie Kane, News Producer

Earlier in August, HCAM played host to Enter Stage Left Theater's from Script to Stage summer program. The week-long camp gave kids the ability to flex both their acting and film-making muscles.

With guidance from ESL staff, the kids made two movies. The group decided on making two very distinct films; a ghost story and a coming-of-age tale. Camper Andrew Keeley says that the group's inspiration for their coming-of-age saga "Nothing Ever Happens in This Town", came from a popular coming-of-age movie from the 1980's.

One of the benefits of making two movies was that each kid got the experience of working both in front of, and behind, the camera.

After the movies were completed, they premiered at the HCAM studio to rave reviews.
