Edward C. McIntire, 82

Edward C. McIntire, 82, of Ashland and formerly of Hopkinton, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Beaumont Nursing Home in Westborough. Born in Reading, MA, he was the son of Edward and Gertrude (Doucette) Nordstrom, brother of the late Dick McIntire of Dover, NH and Robert Nordstrom of Topsfield and former husband of Ruth M. (Dogul) McIntire of Hopkinton.
Ed was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Air Force. He raised his family in Hopkinton, then settled in Ashland. Ed owned a successful masonry and construction company for more than 30 years.

Betty Cornelia James Campbell, 93

Betty Cornelia James Campbell, formerly of Hopkinton, MA, passed away in Portsmouth, NH on Feb. 21, 2016. She was born on Jan. 2, 1923 in North Andover, MA to parents Alden Chase James and Grace Elizabeth Grant James. Betty was a graduate of Lowell State College with a B.S. in Music Education. She taught music for twenty years, in Hopkinton, Framingham and North Andover, MA, and in Lancaster, NH. She retired in Hopkinton in 1981.

Phyllis Ann Phillips Leonard, 83

Phyllis Ann Phillips Leonard, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was 83. Phyllis was born on February 3, 1932 near Gatewood, Missouri to Anne (nee Everett) and Irvin Phillips. She attended the Doniphan public schools and was active in sports, winning the athletic award for her class. She was an excellent student and also played the french horn. Phyllis was a lifelong educator with a B.A. from the University of Missouri and an M.A. from Columbia University in New York.

Joanne Duffy, 85

Joanne Duffy, 85, of Hopkinton, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016. Born in Braintree, she was the daughter of the late Anne (Belmore) and George MacDonald. She was the wife of the late John Joseph Duffy.

Joanne enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Francis M. “Frank” O’Toole, 79

Mr. Francis M. “Frank” O’Toole, 79, of Milford MA, died early Monday morning (January 25, 2016) at Blaire House of Milford after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (LaPorte) O’Toole.

Mr. O’Toole was born in South Boston, MA the son of the late Bartley and the late Helen (Lee) O’Toole. He was a graduate of Gate of Heaven High School in South Boston MA and also a graduate of Suffolk University.

Brigitte “Kitty” Kelsey, 82

Frederick P. Wood, 54

Frederick P. Wood, 54, of Upton and formerly of Hopkinton, passed away January 5, 2016. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Marguerite L. (Howland) and William A. Wood.

Fred was a member of the Nipmuc Rod and Gun Club and worked in carpentry.

He is survived by his two children, Lisa and Steven Wood, both of Marlborough. He also leaves behind two brothers, Billy and Thomas Wood, as well as 2 grandchildren, Mason and Madison Wood.

Kenneth A. McDonald, 73, of Hopkinton, passed away November 24, 2015. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Mary (Crowley) and Colin McDonald. He was the husband of Marilyn (Albury) McDonald also of Hopkinton.

Chester L. Costa Sr., 66

Chester L. Costa Sr., 66, of Hopkinton, passed away November 9. 2015. Born in Athol, he was the son of the late Doris and John Costa. He was the husband of 8 years to Susan E. (Murphy) Costa of Hopkinton.

Chester was one of eight children. He was truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors and being with his dog, Abby.
