St. Paul's "Blessing of the Animals" Oct. 14

Creatures of all species – including four-legged friends or feathered fowl -- are invited to receive a special blessing at St. Paul’s Annual Blessing of the Animals on October 14.

All dogs, cats, and others of God’s creatures – and their human friends – are invited to a special ceremony being held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 61 Wood Street (Rte 135) in Hopkinton. The Blessing of the Animals is being done at 10:15 a.m., followed by a “Pet Friendly” service of the Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

Tree Planting in Recognition of Dykema’s Environmental Leadership Award

State Representative Carolyn Dykema (D-Holliston) was joined by local landscape professionals and the Holliston Rail Trail Committee earlier today to plant a tree in Holliston to recognize the 2012 Environmental Leadership Award she received from the Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association, Inc. (MNLA) earlier this year.

Superintendent Search Process Underway

After considering several potential courses of action, the Hopkinton School Committee has decided to continue its work with the New England School Development Council (NESDEC) to search for a Superintendent of Schools. To aid in the development of the candidate profile, NESDEC will reach out to the professional staff, parents/guardians and community to learn what attributes, experience and knowledge these groups feel the Superintendent should possess.

Friday Night Lights Postponed To Saturday

The Hopkinton High School Athletic Department announced today that The Hiller Football game against the Norton Lancers will be postponed from Friday Night, October 12 to Saturday afternoon at 1pm on October 13th. This is due to the Board of Health, the Town of Hopkinton, after discussions with Police, Fire, School and Parks and Recreation, announced that until further notice all organized evening outdoor events or activities on public properties are canceled from the period of 1/2 hour before sunset and 1/2 hour after sunrise.

MIddle School Soccer Chalks Up 2 More Wins.

The Hopkinton Middle School boys’ soccer team improved its record to 4-0-1 with a 4-0 victory versus Dedham Middle School Tuesday. The entire team played very well. Kenny Rhodes and Chris Mastroianni combined in goal for the shutout. Matt Austin and Brian Gaughan played outstanding. Hopkinton’s goal scorers were Ben Fargiano, Scott Babigian, Nick Mirabile, and Ryan Mastroianni. The boys travel to Dedham on Thursday.
