Nancy Carolyn Bailey, 87

Nancy Carolyn Bailey, 87, of Hopkinton, passed away peacefully at her home on April 26th, 2024. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Ruth A. (Taplin) and Paul A. Newsome. She was the wife of 29 years to the late Bruce G. Bailey.

Nancy, and her sister Patricia, grew up together in Needham, Massachusetts. As children, they met a number of actors through her father’s PR firm. She has cherished the memories of meeting Ester Williams, Art Linkletter, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, and the one and only Norman Rockwell, which was a great segway to her art career.

Treasurer Goldberg Encourages Small Businesses to Search for Unclaimed Property During National Small Business Week

As we celebrate National Small Business Week, State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg is encouraging small business owners to take the time to search for any unclaimed property that may be owed to them.

In March, the Massachusetts Unclaimed Property Division (UCP) released over 50,000 new properties worth millions of dollars that are owed to individuals and businesses throughout the Commonwealth.

Please be advised that the Water Dept. will be working on Cross Street near the intersection of East Main on Wednesday, May 1st from 8:30AM to 2:30PM, weather pending. Due to the nature of work the road will be impassable near the East Main St. side. We ask you to please make plans to access Cross Street from Frankland Road during the work.

Charles Francis Middleton, 90

Charles Francis Middleton, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born in Reading on September 2, 1933 (son of the late Charles F. Middleton, Sr and Alberta (Schmitt) Middleton). He leaves his devoted and loving wife of almost 65 years, Shirley Glynn Middleton. Together they raised three children in Sudbury, MA: Wayne Middleton (and Meg Randazza) who predeceased him, Craig (and Susan) Middleton of Westwood, Jane (and Joe) Wojcik of Hopkinton.

Dr. Jeremiah O’Brien Young, 87

Dr. Jeremiah O’Brien Young passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 21, 2024, at 87 years old. He was with his beloved wife, Beverly, at his home in Milford, Massachusetts, surrounded by many members of his loving family. Jerry was the youngest of five children born to Sidney Washburn and Sumner Bachelor Young in Wayzata, Minnesota. He grew up fishing, skiing, and traveling with his siblings, Elisabeth, Sidney, Rosamond, and Sumner. We celebrate his accomplished life and take comfort knowing he is reunited with his parents and siblings in heaven.

On April 16th, Hopkinton Town Manager, Norman Khumalo worked his final Hopkinton Select Board meeting. After 15 years as Town Manager, Norman stepped down to pursue other ventures.

In the segment below, current Select Board members and former Select Board member, Brendan Tedstone paid tribute and thanks to the many invaluable contributions Norman has made to the community during his tenure and the speech from Norman to the Hopkinton community.
