I started this petition to rally support for public safety measures on West Main St. in Hopkinton on Friday afternoon, in two days it has already gotten over 500 signers.
Definitely our community wants/needs/deserves drastic public safety improvements between the Rt. 495 exit ramps and the lights at Lumber St, especially in front of Cumberland Farms where many of the accidents keep occurring. The highest rate of accidents happens when customers try to take a left exiting from this business and have to cross several lanes of West Main Street commuters in this heavily trafficked area, resulting in broadsiding cars traveling in the right of way on West Main Street.
We need our town leadership, Mass DOT & private stake holders to make West Main St. safer, those of us who reside in the West side of Hopkinton (over 30% of the town's population) have to travel this dangerous stretch to get pretty much anywhere in town: schools, senior center, library, places of worship, post office, town hall, most restaurants & businesses.
