Zen Moth, A Story Telling Experience

Hopkinton gained a creative venue when local businessman Jack Speranza opened his Main Street workspace for an evening of storytelling. Speranza called his new venture Zen Moth. The title blends the name of his business, the Zen Bungalow, with the name of a favorite National Public Radio (NPR) program.

On opening night, the first storyteller was Michael Sullivan, a social sciences teacher at Hopkinton High School. Libby Franck, a professional storyteller, also stepped in to present a story.

Hopkins Students Meet the Poet Whisperer

Miss Law's fourth grade class at Hopkins School recently received a visit from photographer and poet Lyn Littlefield Hoopes. Hoopes, also known as the Poet Whisperer, writes poetry based on photographs she has taken, and uses classroom workshops to encourage children to do the same. Hoopes says that the photographs she uses help give the children a focus when they are writing. If she can, Hoopes also likes to work with art teachers and paintings done by famous artists in her workshops.
