Hopkinton Public Library Foundation is delighted to announce funding for a new series of Coffee House events at Hopkinton Public Library that will feature a range of cultural and artistic performances. At the first Coffee House on Saturday, April 6, 2024, the Betty Strong Room will come alive with Flamenco Boston’s music and dancing. Flamenco Boston is a group composed of two dancers, a singer, and a guitarist. In addition to the musical performance, the group will talk about the history of flamenco and the intercultural relationships that formed it. After the performance, guests are invited to participate in a short (and fun!) dance lesson. Coffee and light refreshments will kick off the event at 12:30 p.m., and the performance will begin in the Betty Strong Room at 1 p.m.

This new Coffee House series aims to offer community members access to arts and culture, enjoy free professional performances in a relaxed environment, and create an additional gathering space for the community to connect with neighbors. Coffee houses will be scheduled bi-monthly basis. Hopkinton Public Library Foundation Chairperson, Laura Barry, commented on the new Coffee House series: “We are thrilled to provide funding for Coffee Houses and other programing for the Library. For over a decade, the Foundation has supported our Library with funding to enhance Library programming and other initiatives. We are able to do so only with the generous support of the Hopkinton community.”

In the last two years, Hopkinton Public Library Foundation has provided funding for the Library of Things, the town-wide reading program One Book-One Hopkinton, the Reading Marathon, an entire year of Music and Movement concerts for little ones, and a series of Gaming events for young adults on early release days! This coming year, the Foundation is also funding vacation week Artist Studios for elementary age children in addition to the series of Coffee House events.

The next opportunity to support the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation is at its Touch-A-Truck and Food Truck Festival on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Hopkinton High School Parking Lot. This event has something for all ages! Climb aboard construction, service and emergency trucks and vehicles from local individuals, businesses, and the Town of Hopkinton, including the Hopkinton Fire Department ladder truck! Roaming Railroad will be there to take children on rides on a trackless train. Touch-A-Truck will also feature food trucks and concessions from a dozen vendors. Tickets for admission are $8 for an adult and $5 for a child. Children under one are free. For more information and to sign up for an email announcing when tickets will go on sale, visit www.hplfinc.org.

Limited space is still available for you or your business to participate in Touch-A-Truck. If your business has a vehicle to show off, or you would like to host a booth or sponsor the event, please contact us at info@hopkintonpubliclibraryfoundation.org. Help make this year’s event a fun-filled success in support of Hopkinton Public Library!
