Cornerstone at Milford, Milford's newest assisted living community held its long awaited Grand Opening on June 12. The new senior community, managed by Massachusetts-based Senior Living Residences, saw more than 150 guests including residents and their families, several local community leaders, local eldercare professionals and members of the team that built the community.

With Senior Living Residence’s expertise and a highly experienced local management team headed by Executive Director Jennifer LaCroix, Cornerstone at Milford features service-enriched assisted living in a beautifully designed building, menu selections from their award-winning Brain Healthy Cooking Program and a state-of-the-art Compass Memory Support Neighborhood®, affiliated with the Boston University’s School of Medicine Alzheimer’s Disease Center, featuring research-based treatment for those with memory loss.

President of Senior Living Residences Robert Larkin described the community, “The typical resident at Cornerstone is someone who has lived in the community and no longer wants to maintain a single family home. They want to live with friends and have activities, transportation to shopping and maybe assistance with personal care needs such as laundry, cooking and medication management or personal care as time goes on.”

Larkin continued, "We also are very proud of our Compass Memory Support Neighborhood® which is dedicated to providing care for seniors who have memory impairments. Compass is specially designed, keeping with the latest research on environmental design for those with memory loss, with the apartments encircling a beautiful open courtyard. Residents have open access to this secure outdoor space that has lots of comfortable seating, raised planting beds and a walking path. Inside the Compass community you’ll find a gorgeous dining room, several communities rooms and wonderful staff that provides unique research-based programming, entertainment and care."

The celebration featured a variety of gourmet food, beverages, and a Jazz Ensemble provided by the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra. The evening culminated with an official ribbon cutting ceremony.
