Hopkinton Ranked One of the Safest Cities in the Country

An organization called Safewise, who works to increase home and community safety released the "Top 100 Safest Cities in America for 2017" list and Hopkinton is ranked towards the top of the list.

The organization ranked Hopkinton 15th on the list. Hopkinton was ranked as 4th safest city in Massachusetts. Mass cities on the list before Hopkinton included: Wayland, Norfolk and Weston. "We narrowed it down based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) in each city. To further level the playing field, we calculated the likelihood of these crimes occurring out of 1,000 people in each city." Hopkinton was ranked as having 0 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and 3.20 property crimes per 1,000 residents.
