Expect Communication to Change During Adolescence

By contributor,

As the parent of a young child, you may have wished for quiet. As the parent of a teen, you will probably get what you wished for.
It’s typical for children to start zipping their lips when they become teens.

Some reasons:
~They worry that parents may be shocked by what they have to say. It’s easier to be quiet than to risk upsetting you.
~They are naturally separating from you. Keeping some private thoughts is an important part of the journey toward becoming an adult.

Say 'Thanks' to Your Child's Teacher

By contributor,

Show your appreciation through the Thank-A-Teacher Appeal

Please take the opportunity to recognize your child's teacher in a special way, by making a donation to the Hopkinton Education Foundation.

Each educator honored by a donation through Thank-A-Teacher receives a personalized letter from the Education Foundation thanking them for their work, and includes the name of the child. Last June the appeal recognized more than 150 teachers for their outstanding contributions.
