On this edition of HCAM News, in an effort to further beautify Hopkinton, the Gateway green project officially launched, a brand new restaurant officially opened in town, the Sharon Timlin 5K had another successful year of raising funds to fight ALS and the Hopkinton Library foundation hosted their annual Touch a truck event, but first, at the Board of Selectmen meeting, a public forum was held to discuss town trash and recycling options going forward.

Hopkinton Board of Health Vacancy Announcement

On June 28, 2016, the Hopkinton Board of Health notified the Board of Selectmen of a vacancy on the Board of Health due to a resignation and are currently seeking candidates for this position.

Pursuant to Town Charter provision 31(e), a joint meeting, consisting of the remaining members of the Hopkinton Board of Health and the members of the Board of Selectmen, will (tentatively) convene on August 9th at a regularly scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting to appoint an individual to temporarily fill this one seat until the next Annual Town Election in May of 2017.

The Town of Hopkinton seeks Per Diem Public Safety Dispatchers

The Town of Hopkinton is seeking qualified applicants for Public Safety Dispatchers to work on a per diem (as needed) basis. Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends, overnights, holidays and with short notice.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to answering emergency and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire and EMS, performance of Emergency Medical Dispatch, dispatching emergency personnel, as well as other related duties.

Lessons Come to Life on the Stage in “School House Rock Live, JR.”

Enter Stage Left Theater presents a children’s production of School House Rock Live, JR. at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts this July. Based on the Emmy Award winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series and pop cultural phenomenon, School House Rock Live, JR. is a fun show the entire family will enjoy. Directed by Mary Scarlata-Rowe. Performances are Friday, July 22 at 3 PM and 7 PM at the Hopkinton High School auditorium (90 Hayden Rowe St.).

July's Fatima Day at the Shrine in Holliston

On Wednesday, July 13th, the Xaverian Missionaries will hold the traditional Fatima Day celebration in honor of Our Lady. It is going to be our third Fatima Day of 2016. This year’s theme is connected to the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy – Mary Mother of Mercy. The main celebrant and homilist will be Fr. Rocco Puopolo, sx. Fr. Rocco served for many years in Sierra Leone (West Africa), then in Washington, DC as Executive Director of Africa Faith and Justice Network (AFJN) and since 2012 has been in Holliston as Director of the Global Youth Mission Services (GYM).

St. Paul’s Hosts Single Again Ice Cream Social July 22

Single Again, a new support group for people who, though divorce, death, or other circumstances are single again, will be hosting another ice-cream social at St. Paul’s Episcopal church hall on Friday, July 22 at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss what topics and activities Single Again members
would like to see in future meetings while enjoying ice cream. Anyone interested in exploring Single Again is invited to attend.
