February 22, 2016 -- (Hopkinton, MA) – Brown Dog Coalition is proud to announce that it will begin doing direct adoptions starting on March 15, 2016. Brown Dog Coalition is a foster-based rescue with headquarters in Hopkinton, Mass. In addition to its primary mission of transporting and rehoming dogs from Jamaica, Brown Dog will also be rehoming dogs and cats from Massachusetts and other U.S. locations.

With the successful completion of a recent capital campaign, St. John the Evangelist has begun restoration and painting of the north side aisle and rear of the church. According to Fr. Richard Cannon, pastor of St. John's, pledges from parishioners, amounting to $1,024,000, exceeded expectation. After water damage repair, art work restoration, and overall painting, the interior of the historic church is expected to recapture the vision of its original, uniquely skilled craftsmen.

The Hopkinton Fire Department would like to send out a special thanks to Firefighter William Lukey as he serves his final tour of duty for the Town today. Bill joined the department back in 1983 as a call/volunteer firefighter and then in 1989 committed himself to a career of public service. We are all lucky to have worked alongside Bill through the years as shared his wonderful humor, wisdom and firefighting experience. So after more than 32 years of service and commitment to our Town, we say farewell to Bill and wish him the best in his retirement years.

The Massachusetts Association of Councils on Aging (MCOA) has launched a new Regional Networking Group program right in Hopkinton to support and assist people 50+ years old who are looking for a new job or guidance in transitioning into a new career direction.

You're never too old to break out the art supplies! Whether you're an experienced colorist or just interested in seeing what's so popular about the new big thing, join us at the Hopkinton Public Library at 65 South Street for a drop-in evening of relaxing coloring! Colored pencils, markers, and pictures to color will be provided - or bring your own materials if you prefer. The event takes place on Wednesday, February 24 with drop-in starting at 6:30 PM. Open to high schoolers and adults.
